Can someone be born in the wrong body? Does our “personhood” exist apart from our physical body? Do some people have male bodies yet female brains or vice versa? Do others have female bodies but male souls? These are big questions that individuals, families, churches, and our culture are wrestling with. In this week’s episode, we welcome Author and Theologian Preston Sprinkle for an intriguing conversation on issues related to transgenderism and gender dysphoria.

While it has been around for a long time, the Enneagram (an ancient personality typing system) has become quite a hot topic recently. Some people are really passionate about it and love sharing their “number” with others. Others are concerned about it because of its mysterious background. Greg and Eric welcome Jan Sampeck, a pastor and leader who has researched the Enneagram and found it to be helpful in her spiritual journey and relationships with others. Join us as we discuss the background and questions around the Enneagram, and how tools like it can help us love those who may not see the world the way that we see it.

Better knowledge about ourselves and others helps us love in deeper ways. Click To Tweet

It’s hard to go too long today without hearing a story about sexual misconduct (or really just misconduct in general) from men in positions of power. Not only has this issue dominated our culture recently, it has also been incredibly divisive, generating strong opinions and challenging conversations – anywhere from politics to Supreme Court confirmations to office workplaces. The church isn’t outside of this conversation either. In fact, it’s often found itself front and center, bringing up all sorts of issues around how women and men relate to one another in the body of Christ. Greg and Eric are joined by Cindy Park, Caroline Johnston, and Stephanie Stanesic, who share their personal experiences both inside and outside of the church, and how the church can become a place of hope, healing, and helpful dialogue around issues of #MeToo, sexual misconduct, and women in the church.

Having sold over 500 million copies in 80 different languages over the past 20 years, it’s clear J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter has connected with people in profound ways. Good stories have the ability to resonate with us long after we’ve heard them. Join Greg and Eric as they dive into why they think Harry inspired so many, including new generations of readers, adults, and many Christ-followers. Could it be there are parts of this story that connect us to a grander story?

Stories can help us think profoundly about faith. They can clue us into the grander story we find ourselves in. Click To Tweet

Often, the biggest ways God winds up using us to make a difference come about in surprising, seemingly small, and even unexpected ways. Blake and Ally Bergstrom share the story of how their nonprofit, Gifted.Global, came about. It wasn’t because of some big, bold plan. It was the result of a certain type of perspective and openness. Come hear about their experience in this second part of our conversation on how to make a difference in a world full of need.

We need to learn to be powerfully present. If we want to make a difference, there are probably little forks in the road every day where we have the opportunity to engage and to say yes if we’re open to it. Click To Tweet
